The people of Argos were not very athletic at all. They were more into arts. One thing that was athletic to them was dance. Dance is considered to be an art and a sport. They still joined the Olympics even though they were not very athletic. As you see, Argos was not a athletic City-State.

Architecture of Ancient Argos

Some of Ancient Argos's architecture is the Thetere of ancient Greece. 400px-GriechTheater2.PNG (153,5 kB) The anceint Thetere was the first thetere ever made! As alex said, Argos is a very artistic City-State. Thats when they started playing music in the thetere and later on, we have orchestras.
